DeAgostini has a new X-Plus exclusive: the Godzilla 1954 “Train in Mouth” Monochrome Version vinyl figure (ゴジラ1954 「電車咥えモノクロver.」). I don’t know much about DeAgostini other than the fact that they have an online store in Japan and that they’ve had X-Plus exclusives before in the past.
This stylized rendition of the original king of the monsters has fantastic detail, texture and comes with a removable base featuring city rubble. And, though it’s not quite movie accurate, it does totally capture the “feel” of Godzilla 1954.
What makes it even more special are the three train cars dangling from Godzilla’s mouth.
It’s made of vinyl and will stand 34cm (13.3 inches) when on it’s base. It’s about 42cm (16.5 inches) long. This guy would fit right in with your 30cm Series collection.
It’s now available for pre-order from the DeAgostini site. It will cost you ¥22,000 (currently UDS $183). The deadline for orders is February 8, 2016 and is expected to ship sometime in May 2016.
I’ve never ordered anything from DeAgostini so I can’t tell you anything useful except that I heard you will need a forwarding service like Tenso.com in order to get one. You can order one here.
This figure is available from DeAgostini only and will not be available from the usual X-Plus vendors. I wonder, though. They made a point to call this the “Monochrome Version”. Perhaps we’ll get another crack at it in a color version at some point?
Also, I wonder what other 1954ish goodies are in the works now that Shin Godzilla has revived the look for 2016.
