Gigantic Series Godzilla 1962 Vinyl Figure by X-Plus.

The Gigantic Series Godzilla (1962) is up for pre-order. Based on Godzilla’s appearance in King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962), it will tower at 48cm (almost 19 inches) even in its slightly crouched pose. It’s also 48cm in length… and that’s with the tail curled! The width of a front-faced figure, including the tail wrapping alongside, will be 65cm (25.5 inches)!

This vinyl behemoth will be the 4th figure in the Gigantic Series and it’s worth noting that this will be the first non-stylized sculpt. Yes, the Gigantic Series Yuji Sakai Godzilla 1999 isn’t really stylized since that figure represent Sakai’s own vision which was significantly altered for the suit. Also worth noting that the next in the series, Godzilla 1954, also is not stylized.

But back to KingGoji: It’s available for pre-order right now!

The Ric Boy version seems to be coming with an alternate paint job on the fins. A combination of translucent vinyl and paint will recreate the appearance of Godzilla’s fins while atomic breath is being fired. No, there will be no lights installed. But, supposedly, the fins will give the impression that they are glowing, much like the Ric version of the Gigantic Sakai Godzilla 1999 did.

The Gigantic Series Godzilla 1962 Ric Boy is available at the Online Ric Boy Store for ¥41,040 ($367). Pre-orders end Monday, May 9 (Japan time).

YES, a Standard version (with fins painted in the “off-state”) is available from other retailers. At this writing, Hobby Search has it for $305, and Hobby Link Japan for $323. No sign of it on AmiAmi yet. Keep checking.
