X-Plus Large Monster Series Baragon 1965 Fierce Battle Color Version vinyl figure.

Now up for Preorder is the Toho Large Monster Series Baragon (1965) Fierce Battle Color Version (東宝大怪獣シリーズ バラゴン(1965) 激闘カラーVer.) Ric Exclusive vinyl figure by X-Plus.

BASED ON BARAGON’S FIRST APPEARANCE
This is a high quality, movie accurate vinyl based on Baragon’s original appearance in the 1965 Showa classic Frankenstein Conquers the World, also know as Frankenstein vs. Baragon (フランケンシュタイン対地底怪獣バラゴン). This movie would later connect to the Godzilla franchise with Baragon’s appearance in Destroy All Monsters (1968) and Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001) affectionately known as GMK.

HEIGHT / SIZE
X-Plus reports that the figure will stand 23cm tall (9.05 inches).

It will scale very well with the rest of the Daikaiju Series (Large Monster Series / 25cm Series). And it will especially look great next to the previously released Large Monster Series Frankenstein which was released last summer (2018).

RIC EXCLUSIVE
Light-up eyes and horn of the Large Monster Series Baragon 1965 vinyl figure.

Baragon will come light-up eyes and horn to mimic its appearance in the movie. This light gimmick will be powered by an external power supply which will require two AA batteries.

This vinyl will be available as a Ric Exclusive only and will not have a Standard Version. This means that it will be available officially ONLY from the X-Plus site and The Godzilla Store.

You will also be able to get it from the secondary market through certain X-Plus retailers. More on that below.

IT’S A REISSUE
This figure was originally released in 2013 as the Toho Large Monster Series Baragon (1965) ‘Standing Pose’ (東宝大怪獣シリーズ 「バラゴン(1965年版) 立ちポーズ」 少年リック限定版).

X-Plus Large Monster Series Baragon (standing), 1965.This original release was available as both a Standard and Ric Exclusive version. The Standard came with relaxed ears and no gimmick. The Ric came with two sets of interchangeable ears (one relaxed pair and one extended pair) plus light-up eyes and horn.

The reissue up for preorder now will come with one set of ears (extended) and the light gimmick. It will also come with updated paint apps said to mimic the suit’s appearance in the final battle at the end of the movie. It’s hard to tell from the photos X-Plus has provided, but I think that that basically translates to “it will be darker”. The original release had a sort of yellowish tinge to its brown skin. This new reissue appears to have a darker and richer brown paint scheme.

WHERE TO ORDER
You can preorder the new Baragon (1965) ‘Fierce Battle Color Version’ directly from X-Plus. In the United States and Canada, point your browsers to the Shounen Ric as X-Plus web store.

There you can order it for $120.75 plus shipping from Japan. Keep in mind that X-Plus will want you to pay in full up front at the time of ordering.

Secondary Market web store such as Big Bad Toy Store and Flossie’s should be making them available to order soon as well.

IMPORTANT DATES
Preorders for Baragon are scheduled to close on November 19, 2019 at 5pm Japan time.
Secondary Market stores will have a longer preorder as long as supplies last.

Baragon is expected to ship in January 2020.

DON’T DELAY
X-Plus has stated that this figure will be in limited supply and that preorders may end early. They also state that if it does end early, they may consider extending the preorder and taking more orders, but it’s not a done deal. If you are in the market for this figure, the sooner you order, the better.
