The X-Plus 30cm Series Mechagodzilla 1974 vinyl figure on my desk.

Greetings Kaiju Addicts! It’s been a while. Just got over a bad cold and am sitting down to a lot of piled up desk work.

While I do that work, I have some company: The 30cm Series Mechagodzilla 1974 by X-Plus.

This guy was released way back in 2011 (just a couple of years after X-Plus started putting out ‘the good stuff’. It was reissued in 2013 for the U.S. and that’s what I have here: a “Diamond Reissue”. It’s one of the very few figures (from across all lines) that comes with a base and needs it to stand. I’m not crazy about that but I guess I got over it.

This ’74 has nowhere near the amount of articulation that the ’75 has. But there are a couple of things you can tweak. Most notably: the jaw. The hatch on the chest can open, too which is a nice touch.

Speaking of the ’75, I’ve noticed that that one gets all of my attention since it came out with the ’74 left to stand near the rear of the shelf almost forgotten.

Well, today, it’s the star of the collection as it stands at my desk all day today.

I have to say, this whole “X-Plus of the Day” thing is really working. I almost feel like I have a new figure here.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Do you have this figure?
What do you think about the base?
Are you pining for a 30cm Series King Caesar to go with it?

When you have well over 100 X-Plus figures, each one tends to blur out of focus in lieu of the collection as a whole. ‘X-Plus of the Day’ is when I select one of them and keep them on my desk for the day in an attempt to enjoy and appreciate it away from the busy shelves.
